Selecting an Architect

REFERRALS
Ask your friends who have used an architect and were satisfied with the work for recommendations.

PORTFOLIO
Shop around and look at the architect's past record. Do you like his or her style? Talk to the architect's old clients.

CONVERSING
Get to know the architect inperson through conversation. This is very important. If you find that you cannot communicate well with the architect at this stage, it is likely that you will not be able to convey your ideas when the project starts. Spend some time talking together and get a fell of how the architect works. Consider whether the architect's style suits you

What does An Architect Do ?

Brings together within the project all the element that are required by the client, taking into consideration the client's lifestyle and preferences.

Deals with statutory authorities and obtains planning permission. Sketches showing both interior and exterior of the building are provided for the client's approval before accurate drawings are submitted to the relevant authorities.

Carries out administration of the works from the point of conceiving the project to the point where tenders are obtained. Thereafter, the architect checks the work on site and approves the building before it is handed back to the owner.

Acts as quasi-arbitrator who professionally advises the client and the contractor when dispute arise.

Making It Work

Aksis Architects have come to appreciate that successful designs are not a matter of aesthetics alone, but require a deeper involvement in problem solving, cooperation and, more importantly, in meeting the design requirements and criteria set by the client. Our architectural designs in the past have always taken important considerations into account, such as budgetary considerations that meet the objectives of clients, compatibility with the surrounding environment, the need to accommodate for social interaction, as well as the function and aesthetic form of the building itself. We call it “ Design for a better environment”.
